Part I: Protecting Claimants From Harmful Treatments for Pain
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has repeatedly asked Dr. Barth to teach doctors how to protect patients from harmful treatments such as spinal cord stimulators, surgery for pain, pain pumps, opioids, etc. This presentation describes the method for protecting patients from such treatments, which is based on scientific findings that have revealed the fundamentally misdirected nature of such treatments, and predictors of treatment failure.

Part II: Chronic Pain: Non-Injury-Related Causative Factors
This program is based on publications and continuing medical education programs that Dr. Barth created for the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. This presentation addresses the non-injury-related nature of chronic pain. Examples of risk factors for chronic pain that will be discussed include seeking compensation, personality disorders, and previous pain complaints.
